How do I become a Governor?

Under the arrangements for the Local Management of Schools, the school is run with fully delegated executive powers by the Governors who are all members of the local community. Of these Governors five represent the parents, with the remainder of the Governing body comprising representatives of the Education Authority and the local community as well as the head teacher and members of staff. When vacancies occur for parent governors nomination forms are sent out and if there is more than one nominee then a ballot of all parents takes place. The term of office for a Governor currently stands at four years.
