Fernhurst Primary School

Mrs Ann Pope

My name is Ann Pope and I moved to the village just over 6 years ago. I recently took early retirement from my job as Deputy Head of a primary school in the London Borough of Merton. I was a teacher for 34 years, 20 of which were spent as Deputy Head and Inclusion Manager. I was also a governor at my school for 20 years. It was a very rewarding career and I enjoyed working with the Head to develop a vision and ethos for the school. As Inclusion Manager I was very committed to developing the emotional wellbeing of both pupils and staff, working to create an environment where all staff and pupils had an understanding of the importance of good mental health and providing a structure of support to enable this. As SENCO working with children with SEN and their families was also an important part of my work, meeting with them and ensuring that the children received the support that they needed. I am pleased to still be involved with the world of education through my role as a governor at Fernhurst Primary and hope that my experience can be of use to the school.
