Primary School

Deer Class is taught by Miss Morris and supported by Miss Brown. In Deer Class you will see a lovely bright and vibrant learning environment with lovely outside space.

In Year 1 the children develop many of their skills through drama, art, music and games.  They learn to apply and develop their numeric, literacy and scientific skills through fun yet purposeful activities. The children are enthusiastic in their learning and relish a challenge.

Deer Class begins with a topic called 'Memory Box' where the children will look at what life was like before they were born. Then our work on 'Superheroes' begins, using our focus text 'Traction Man' by Mini Grey, before we collaborate in a topic with Year 2 all about our Christmas Production.

In Spring, our first topic is 'Paws, Claws and Whiskers' where we learn all about animals and focus on the story 'The Tiger that Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr. After half term, we turn our attention to 'The Enchanted Woodland'. During this topic, we go to Forest School every week and we learn about lots of different fairy tales.

'Splendid Skies' is a lovely start to the Summer Term using the key text 'The Jolly Postman' by Janet & Allan Ahlberg. Our final topic in Deer Class is 'Rio de Vida' where we learn about different South American Myths and Legends.
